In July 2012 a much anticipated Welsh mountain bike trail centre, Antur Stiniog, opened it’s doors. Set in the historical slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog it’s setting is unique to say the least.
Antur Stiniog is one of only a few uplift centres in Wales which means you can spend the day riding and barely pedal. A walk up/ride up option is planned but for now you’ll have to splash out on the £26 uplift day ticket.
The current record for the most decents in one day is eighteen, more than enough to tire your average set of legs out! Just a few weeks after opening we were lucky enough to take a spin on the trails. We spent most of the afternoon on ‘Wild Cart’ which is graded red and fits between ‘Drafft’, a mellow flowing blue trail (with red graded features) and ‘Black powder’ a more challenging black.
