Afan and Cwm Carn trail updates
A few diversions in place for the next few weeks as updating and upgrading work continues at the super popular South Wales centres. Over to MTB ranger on the spot Carl Denham for more details:
The Energy Section has had work completed including some stone pitching on a couple of steep banks and some resurfacing and reshaping of the dark boarded section.
Work started on Monday to replace the 'temporary bridge' in tramway section with a stone causeway after the last one was washed away a couple of years ago. Work should be completed in 3 weeks time. A diversion is in place sending riders straight to Nantybar from the Rheilffodd trail at the bottom of the valley.
Current diversions still in place due to harvesting works - Heartburn, Handy Andy and Grand Canyon.
Work started this week on reopening access tracks to Angels Posts Dragon's Tongue and Castle Valley to get trail surface material and stone close to the MTB trail for future repairs.
Y Mynydd DH track
Work to start next week (Mon and Tues) on repairs to the DH trail - specifically on the entrance to the Tunnel and from the Drop Off right down to the finish. Work to include reshaping the trail tread and building up the berms to their original size.
Work will continue on Mon and Tues for the forthcoming weeks and also Wed 25th and Thurs 26th Aug. THE DOWNHILL TRAIL WILL BE SHUT ON THESE DATES FOR HEALTH & SAFETY REASONS.
