Coed y Brenin trail work update

MTB ranger Andy Braund has been riding all the Coed y Brenin trails to fully assess recent weather damage and works in progress. Here's his horses mouth report on what and what isn't open and the likely timetable on trail work:
" There is still felling happening on 'Abel', which will hopefully be over in a few weeks. Once that's over and the site is cleared we'll be able to assess the condition of the trail. Hopefully there'll be minimal damage and we'll be able to open straight away after a bit of fettling! Worst case scenario, there'll be lot's of damage and we'll have to get the contractors in to repair it.

On the next section, 'Falseteeth' it's been closed due to the main culvert having been blown out in the rains in November. Also we were due to start a major rebuild of the section, however it got put back due to it being designated as a SSSI. This then meant that we had to apply for consent from the Countryside Council for Wales. Unfortunately a lengthy process which has put the job back by six weeks! We've just got the go ahead from them so now it's all system's go! The job could take up to eight weeks to complete.

So to answer your question is actually quite difficult! Potentially we could have both the Beast and MBR open in two weeks time, but with a diversion around 'Falseteth' until works are complete. Hopefully all of the trail will be open with a newly refurbished and polished set of Gnashers by the end of March.

Hope this makes sense!"
