New have a go heroes or hardcore DH racers who've been missing the Dragon Downhill series will be delighted to hear there's a brand new Welsh gravity series for 2010.
The Downhill and Dirty race series sponsored by Juicy Lubes and O Neal is being organised by Borderline events. They're the same people who organise Descent-Gear races at Moelfre and Scotland's Alpine Bikes Winter Series – and the WDMBA (Welsh Downhill Mountain Bike Association).
The four venues that have already been confirmed – Llangollen, Mynydd Du, Rheola and Moelfre – will be familiar to Welsh gravity racers already and the fifth round is likely to be at Gethin, Mountain Ash or another mystery hill of suitable steepness.
We haven't collared him yet, but organiser Mike Marsden told www.bikeradar.com "We're trying to have a Welsh series, not just a South Wales series, and use tracks where everybody is welcome. Some events are very cliquey if you aren't quick, but that's certainly not going to be the case at any of our events. We want everybody to be able to have a go, not just the elite racers, and we want to make it enjoyable to race, even if you've never done it before."
Entries will open in January with the events below already confirmed and possible uplift days planned too. We'll bring you more details as soon as we get them, but put www.borderline-events.co.uk on your favourites bar if you definitely fancy some gravity race action next year.
