Marin Rough Ride this weekend
Riders who've tried it reckon it's the best event all year if you want 'proper mountain biking like it used to be.'
With this years 75km and 48km options being over 80% off road, mostly on wild moorland (much of it only opened up to bikes for this event) with no forestry sections this is one for real riders not just roadies on semi slick tyres. Plus while everyone will be timed and there are feed stations to keep you going the vibe from seasoned event organiser and real ale guru Jeremy Atkinson is very much as relaxed as you want it to be, with spot prizes from headline sponsors Marin, Dialled bikes, Hope and Torolocco drawn at random not based on results. As it's right on the Welsh border it's really quick and easy to get to as well - ideal for anyone caught in the horror of Bank Holiday/half term traffic recently.
Unsurprisingly there's a load more information on the Rough Ride and Radnoshire riding in general on the excellent
www.roughride.co.uk website, so do yourself and your bike a big favour and do a bit of old skool border raiding this weekend.
