This weekend is the Great Weekend of Adventure here in Wales, a weekend where we’re all encouraged to head out and explore what Wales has to offer: And we’d like you to get out there on two wheels and sample our great mountain biking. We’ve come up with our top 5 mountain biking adventures for you to head to over the weekend.
1: 2016 British Cycling MTB Cross-Country Series
Round 1 of the series heads to Pembrey Country Park in Carmarthenshire this weekend and with races from under 8’s to Elite you’ll have a day packed with racing for all levels ahead of you. Courses are designed for spectators so whether you’re taking part or supporting it’s set to be a great event. For more information head here.
2: The Great Weekend of Adventure Challenge
Antur Stiniog and BikePark Wales are challenging people to ride at both centres during the Great Weekend of Adventure. They also have a challenge for the very brave, how about cycling at both centres and in between both centres, forget about the car it’s all about two wheels – are you up for the challenge?
3: Welsh Enduro Series at Coed y Brenin
Round one of the Welsh Enduro Series comes to Coed y Brenin on Sunday, online entries are open until Friday lunch time with “on the day” entries also available. More information can be found here.
4: Take the children out on the bikes
We’re not just about “extreme” mountain biking here in Wales; our family trails are a great way to get everyone out in the countryside. Try the Rookie trail at Afan Forest Park, The Derwen Green at Brechfa or the Llandegla Green at Coed Llandegla. For a full search of all family trails use our trail search facility.
5: Head out on our natural trails
As well as fabulous trail centres, Wales has incredible natural trails. Experience the Brecon Beacons or The Clwyds, all routes still waymarked but giving you a bit more of a taste of adventure. Search our trail bases.
Don’t forget … if you’re out and about on two wheels over the Great Weekend of Adventure, share your pictures with us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #mbwales and we’ll be showcasing them next week – look out for that to see if you can spot yourself!
