Starting from Clive Powell Mountain Bikes in Rhayader, you’ll head to the site of a Roman Camp after warming your legs up on the old Mountain Road climb. The open hills take you high above the first Elan Valley reservoir and dam, down through the valley and along an old railway line. You might be tempted half to stop off for a well-earned cuppa at Penbont House Tearooms or the Elan Valley Visitor Centre, before making your way over the inviting Mid Wales countryside before dropping back down into Rhayader.
